The Teachers of Music4Life Ensemble

 

Our amateur musicians have the opportunity to play and perform along-side skilled music teachers and professionals who are part of the practicing and performing group.  This arrangement provides an excellent learning environment for new players and is a true complement to traditional private lessons.

Patrick Wang

Music4Life Concert Master

Mr. Wang graduated from Shanghai Music Conservatory in 1982 and has nearly 30 years of violin/viola teaching and performance experience. In 1990, Mr. Wang was offered an exchange scholarship at the Juilliard School of Music in New York to assist with research related to the Suzuki violin teaching methodology. Mr. Wang has performed abroad playing first violin with the Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra on Broadway and has also performed across the GTA.

Sunny Park

Music4Life Violin 1 Section Lead

Ms. Park is a professional violinist from Toronto. Since arriving in Canada in 2002, she has been a member of the Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra, has been invited to play as a soloist with prominent orchestras and artists and has performed with professional ensembles throughout the GTA. She loves Bach, chamber music, finding musical inspiration from art and nature and engaging with students of all ages at her private lesson studio in North York.

Karin Matsunaga

Music4Life Violin2 Section Lead

Ms. Matsunaga attended 2 major art schools for music performance: Earl Haig Secondary School (The Claude Watson Arts Program) and Cardinal Carter Academy of the Arts and she obtained her music degree from the University of Toronto. Karin has completed her grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music for violin and has performed in several orchestras throughout her music career.

Emily Chen

Music4Life Cello Section Lead

Emily, a new Canadian Chinese cellist with a celebrated background in music performance, received her Bachelor of Music from the National University of Singapore and her Masters from Boston University College of Fine Arts. During College, Emily built her experience with many world masters including David Takeno, Louis Hopkins, and performed with the school orchestra at the Esplanade concert hall, and Boston Symphony Hall. Emily has had collaborations with Alan Gilbert, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Takuo Yuasa.
